About this event

Book Launch: A Light of Her Own by Aalimah Sarah Ahmed

Suggested donation: $10

Join us for an evening celebrating the launch of A Light of Her Own: Muslim Womanhood as a Path to Allah, the new book from Aalimah Sarah Ahmed.

Drawing on classical Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic wisdom, and the realities of women’s lives, this book invites us to see the experiences unique to Muslim womanhood, such as its seasons, roles, and relationships, not as obstacles to closeness with Allah, but as the very path to it. Whether you’ve longed for a faith that feels more alive and more your own, or you’re simply tired of the noise and competing expectations, this is a night to reflect, connect, and be inspired.

Hear directly from the author through a talk, discussion, and reading, then join the conversation during audience Q&A. Stay for the book signing, and enjoy Khushbrew coffee before and after the program. Open to all sisters 18 and up!

Additional information

Sarah Ahmed is a Muslim scholar, author, and educator whose work lives at the intersection of classical Islamic knowledge and the real, lived experience of Muslim women.

She holds an alimiyyah degree in Islamic sciences and has spent over a decade teaching, writing, and building spaces where Muslim women can encounter their faith with depth, honesty, and dignity. She is the co-director of EmpowHer Health, a faith and wellness community for Muslim women based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and the host of the She Should Know podcast.

Sarah is the author of A Light of Her Own: Muslim Womanhood as a Path to Allah, a book for Muslim women ready to stop navigating their faith on the margins and step into the center of it, and Reading Qur'an: A Step-by-Step Guide to Qur'anic Fluency, which has helped thousands of people rebuild their relationship with the Qur'an.

Her teaching spans courses, halaqas, speaking engagements, and one-on-one counseling — all rooted in the same conviction: that people deserve knowledge that is rigorous, accessible, and deeply their own.
