A Study of Book 30 of the Iḥyā’ ‘Ulūm al-Dīn
We are excited to announce our upcoming Weekend Retreat, which will be held on December 11-13, titled On Self-Delusion, a study of Book 30 of Imam al-Ghazali’s masterpiece Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din (Revival of the Religious Sciences).
Book 30 ends the section on blameworthy characteristics in Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din with a topic of immense import as it includes the self-delusion of sinners among the believers who put false hope in Allah Ta’ala’s mercy and munificence.
Allah Ta’ala warns us: “…do not let the life of this world deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah,” [31:33] and “…[you] were deluded by false hopes until Allah’s decree ‘of your death’ came to pass.” [57:14] Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said: “The intelligent man is he who reproaches himself and acts for after his death; and the fool is he who follows his soul’s caprice and has wishful thinking regarding Allah.” [Tirmidhi and Ibn Maja]
In Book 30, Imam al-Ghazali first focuses on the most intense type of self-delusion – that of the unbelievers, the transgressors, and sinners, and then discusses the difference between false hope and praiseworthy hope, the four categories of self-deluded people, how to rid oneself of self-delusion, and the three things that keep one safe from self-delusion.
We welcome you to join us to learn about this subtle but potentially ruinous characteristic in what we pray will be a transformative weekend filled with abundant blessings as we acquire sacred knowledge and spend time together in devotion, reflection, and spiritual growth.
REGISTRATION
The registration cost covers meals and full access to all retreat programming (please see below for information regarding accommodations). The registration fees are as follows:
General Registration: $140 / person (General Registration is required for all guest ages 10+)
Student Registration (Adult): $110 / person (Note: Must be officially registered and show student I.D at check-in)
Saturday Only Registration: $85 / person (Saturday Only ticket is valid for Saturday only)
PLEASE NOTE: There is NO onsite registration available (No walk-ins). All tickets must be acquired in advance online. If we are sold out in any category please feel free to join the waitlist. When tickets become available you will be notified based on order received. Thank you for your cooperation.

CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH PROGRAM
Children's Program (Ages 3-5) = $75 / child
Please note for Children's Program (Ages 3-5) each child should be accompanied with a spare change of clothes as well as a set of diapers if not potty trained. Nursing children and children under 3 should be accompanied by their parents at all times.
Youth Program (Ages 6-9) = $75 / child
Children's and Youth program will be available Saturday & Sunday based on registration. Fees listed are for the entire weekend.
NOTE: Children ages 10+ must remain with their parent or guardian during the retreat. Children should not roam around the campus unattended (due to safety concerns).
ONLINE ATTENDANCE

Attendees should plan to arrive on the evening of Friday, December 11th at 5:00 PM. Program ends Sunday, December 13th at 4:00pm. Please allow enough time to check in and receive your writst band and workbook (15-20 mins).
